Thank you for spending this special day with me and my family as we mark the end of a long and successful career in the Marine Corps. We hope you enjoy your trip to Annapolis!  Please take the time to review the important details below to ensure your visit to the Naval Academy is as enjoyable and frustration-free as possible.

Official Ceremony Invitation

Ceremony 

When: Friday, 26 August 2016 at 2pm

Where: Dahlgren Hall, United States Naval Academy,  Annapolis, MD (map)

Dress

Other Information: The ceremony will take place on the Class of '53 Deck inside Dahlgren Hall.  Enter the building through the doors facing the Yard (by the Drydock restaurant) and proceed up the stairs to the seating area.  The reception location is a short walk across the Academy grounds. Both the ceremony and reception locations are air conditioned.

Important Information

Accessing the Yard

The main entrance to the Academy is through the Visitor Center adjacent to Gate 1 (map).  Only those with a DoD issued government ID card are allowed to drive onto the Naval Academy Campus. All others must enter through the pedestrian entrance

Anyone 18 or older must show a valid (not expired) original (no photocopies) U.S. government-issued photo ID or original passport to enter USNA grounds.  Visitors from the states of Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, Washington or American Samoa are required to present a SECOND PHOTO ID.

Parking

There are multiple parking garages in the town of Annapolis.  

These are the closest to USNA if walking:

For those drivers with DoD ID Cards who wish to park on the Naval Academy grounds, only utilize spaces NOT marked "Faculty/Staff" or otherwise reserved.

Food

Before the ceremony

In addition to the many restaurants in downtown Annapolis, there are two places for dining aboard the Naval Academy. If you arrive early to watch the "Noon-Meal Formation" in Tecumseh Court at 1200 (*highly recommended), these are convenient options:
